After registration, you can create persistent inboxes, API keys, custom domains, and other advanced features.

Can I use it without registering?

Yes! The homepage provides free temporary email without any registration. The system auto-generates an email address and you can receive emails in real-time. Temporary inboxes expire after a period. For persistent inboxes, API access, and custom domains, registration is required.

How do I link GitHub / LinuxDo accounts?

After logging in, go to "Settings" page and find the third-party account binding section. Click the "Bind" button for the desired platform and complete the OAuth authorization. Once bound, you can use that platform for one-click login.

What if I forgot my password?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Click "Forgot password" on the sign-in page, enter the registered email address, and the system will send a password reset link. Open the link in the email to set a new password. The link is valid for 30 minutes by default. If the email does not arrive right away, also check your spam folder.

How do I delete my account?

Accepted Answer

Go to Settings → scroll to the bottom → click 'Delete My Account'. You'll need to type a confirmation phrase. Your account will be deactivated immediately (API keys revoked, sessions ended). There's a 30-day cooling period — if you log in during this time, you can reactivate your account. After 30 days, all data is permanently anonymized and cannot be recovered.

• Some websites may block known temp email domains

What's the difference between shared and custom domains?

• Custom domains: Your own domain (e.g., mail.yourcompany.com), only you can use it, won't be flagged as temp email, ideal for production use. Requires DNS TXT and MX record configuration and verification.

How do I add a custom domain?

1. Log in → go to "Domains" → click "Add Domain"
2. Enter your domain (for example mail.example.com) and decide whether wildcard child-domain capability should be prepared at the same time
3. Follow the on-screen DNS checklist:
   • TXT record: verifies domain ownership
   • MX record: routes mail to YYDS Mail
   • If wildcard child-domain capability is enabled, add one extra wildcard MX record
   • The default flow does not require an extra CNAME
4. If you have configured a DNS automation service connection (Cloudflare is supported first), the system can also sync these records automatically
5. After DNS propagation (usually 5-30 minutes), click "Verify"
6. The domain only becomes "receiving ready" after TXT and MX both pass. Only then can it reliably create inboxes, enable wildcard child-domain capability, or remain publicly shared

Why did domain verification fail?

Accepted Answer

Common causes:
• DNS records haven't propagated yet — wait 5-30 minutes and retry
• TXT record value is incorrect — make sure you copied the full verification token including the prefix
• MX record is missing or still points to your previous mail service — both TXT and MX are required
• Browser cache — try clearing cache and re-checking
Important: a passing TXT record only proves ownership. If MX is still failing, the domain will not become "receiving ready" yet. The domain page now lets you click "Verified / Pending / DNS failed / New in 24h" at the top for quick filtering, and the TXT, MX, and Wildcard MX checks on each card show the current state with check or cross icons.

Can I make my domain public/shared?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but only while the domain is "receiving ready". Once set to "Public" in domain management, other users can create inboxes on this parent domain and the owner earns reward API calls based on usage. The parent domain's public status only controls whether the parent domain itself enters the shared pool; wildcard rules under the same domain remain a separate private capability. If MX later becomes invalid, public sharing is also paused automatically until DNS is fixed.

How does domain sharing earn credits?

When you set a receiving-ready domain to 'Public', other users can create inboxes on it. The system settles usage daily, converting it to API credits based on the 'Usage Per Credit' ratio configured in admin settings. Credits expire after the configured 'Credit Expiry' days.
The more domains you share and the more they're used, the more credits you earn. If MX later becomes invalid, public sharing is paused and new public creations stop until DNS is fixed. View your domain's usage stats and earned credits on the Dashboard.

How do wildcard domains work?

Accepted Answer

Wildcard support is attached to an existing exact domain. You do not add `*.example.com` as a separate domain. Recommended flow:
1. Add and verify the exact domain first
2. If needed, prepare wildcard support at the same time when adding the domain
3. Add one extra wildcard MX record in DNS
4. In most DNS panels the record name is `*`; if the provider requires a full host, use `*.example.com`
5. The default flow still does not require an extra CNAME
6. Before the rule can become active, these conditions must all be true: the parent domain belongs to the current account, TXT verification has passed, the root MX is valid, and the wildcard MX is valid
7. After it is enabled, the server issues real child domains under that domain; when the child label is omitted, a 6-character short label is generated automatically
8. If a specific child domain is pinned, for example `team-a.example.com`, multiple local parts can continue to coexist under that same child domain as long as the complete addresses do not conflict
9. When the rule is no longer needed, pause it directly from the domain card. You can resume it later after DNS is ready or when the rule is needed again
10. Wildcard support itself remains private and does not enter the shared pool.

How do I get a Cloudflare API token and enable DNS automation?

3. Create a custom token with at least Zone:Read and DNS:Edit permissions
4. Include the domains you want to manage in the token scope
5. Paste the token into YYDS Mail, click "Test connection", then save it
6. After saving, you can enable "Automatically sync DNS records" when adding a domain, or import manageable domains directly from the connected service
7. If you do not configure a Cloudflare token, you can still continue with manual TXT / MX / wildcard MX setup. DNS automation only shortens the workflow; it does not replace the standard domain onboarding path.

How do I create an API Key?

Log in → go to "API Keys" → click "Create API Key" → enter a name → choose domain scope → create. The full API key (starting with AC-) is returned immediately, so you should copy it right away. If needed, the signed-in owner can reveal the full key again later from API Key management.

• all: access every domain the current account can actually use
• public: only public shared domains

What are the API rate limits?

API uses token-bucket rate limiting. The baseline rate comes from the current subscription plan and can increase further through verified-domain RPM rewards. Public rate-limit values are runtime data and should not be treated as a fixed long-term contract. `429` responses include a `Retry-After` header: short waits usually mean the instant rate bucket, while longer waits usually mean daily, weekly, or monthly API quota exhaustion. `/v1/pricing` shows purchased pools plus public rate-limit metadata, not the subscription catalog, and purchased pools do not rewrite the baseline rate. Treat `/v1/plans`, `/v1/pricing`, and signed-in `/v1/me/quota` as the source of truth.

What are webhooks and how do I set them up?

Webhooks let your application receive real-time HTTP notifications when events happen (e.g., new email received). Setup:
1. Go to 'Webhooks' page → click 'Create Webhook'

Which actions count as API usage?

Not every signed-in request consumes API usage. Current rules:
• Counted: protected endpoints called with an API key are generally counted one request per call; signed-in homepage temp inbox creation is also counted because that flow is treated as API-origin and grouped under API inboxes
• Not counted: public endpoints and normal dashboard/management browsing, such as opening the dashboard, listing inboxes, viewing domains, checking messages, or opening settings with your web session
• Anonymous homepage creation: does not consume a user's API quota, but it has its own strict anonymous limit. You can create up to 10 quickly, then roughly 1 more every 5 seconds; sustained abuse triggers a temporary 5-minute block
Examples:
• Counted: using an API key to call `POST /v1/accounts` to create a temp inbox, `GET /v1/messages?address=...` to list messages, or `GET /v1/messages/'{'id'}'` to view details — each request counts once
• Not counted: directly accessing public endpoints such as `GET /v1/plans`, `GET /v1/pricing`, or `GET /v1/stats`, or simply browsing dashboard/settings/domain pages while signed in on the web
For third-party integrations, treat direct endpoint calls as API usage and authenticate with an API key or Bearer JWT.

Can API keys use wildcard rules?

Yes, and the preferred mental model is now 'fixed domain + optional child domain':
1. Fixed domain: send `localPart + domain`
2. Wildcard domain: keep sending `localPart + domain`, then add `subdomain` only when the child domain must be pinned
If you call `POST /v1/accounts/wildcard`, the server first prefers the configured default wildcard parent; without a default, it randomly picks one allowed wildcard parent and then generates the real child domain automatically. Normal scripts no longer need to know `wildcardRuleId`; that stays available only for legacy compatibility and advanced debugging. After creation, message and verification-code lookups must use the final returned `address` or the matching `temp token`, not only the local part or parent domain.

• Wait for the automatic monthly reset (aligned with your plan cycle)

3. Reward API calls accumulate automatically as others use your domain
Reward API calls enter your available call pool and can be consumed in supported call-pool flows such as API call purchases. They are not a built-in plan guarantee and do not directly rewrite your current plan baseline. View the balance and history on the Dashboard.

What is call pool priority and how do I change it?

Call pool priority controls which extra call pool is consumed first when making purchases:
• Auto (default): The system optimizes consumption order automatically
• Reward First: Uses reward API calls from domain sharing before the purchased call pool
• Purchased First: Uses the purchased call pool before reward API calls
Change this in Settings → Call Pool Priority. Your choice takes effect immediately for all future transactions.

How are daily API limits and email retention calculated?

These rules are calculated differently:
• Daily API calls: counted by UTC calendar day and reset at 00:00 UTC each day.
• Weekly / monthly API calls: measured with rolling windows, not calendar resets. The latest 7 days and latest 30 days are always included.
• Email retention: controlled by the active plan's retention period, such as 7 days, 30 days, or 90 days. It does not reset daily. Messages are purged after the retention window, while the persistent inbox itself remains.
• Plan expiry: once a plan expires, the account falls back to the effective lower tier, and quota plus retention are recalculated from that active plan.
For the current live rules, use the signed-in plan page, quota page, and `/v1/me/quota` as the source of truth.

Why am I not receiving emails?

Check these steps:
1. Verify the email address was copied correctly (no extra spaces)
2. Check if the sender supports temp email domains (some sites block them)
3. Wait a few seconds — emails usually arrive within 5s, but some senders may delay
4. For custom domains, verify MX records are correctly configured
5. Refresh the page or check the inbox message list
If the issue persists, the sender's anti-spam policy may be blocking delivery.

Why did my inbox expire?

Temporary inboxes auto-expire by design. Anonymous inboxes from the homepage typically expire after 24 hours. For long-term use, register an account and create persistent inboxes in "Inbox Management" (they never auto-expire).

API returns 429 (Too Many Requests) — what do I do?

Accepted Answer

429 means you've exceeded the rate limit. Solutions:
1. Check the Retry-After response header for wait time
2. Implement exponential backoff (1s → 2s → 4s)
3. Reduce concurrent requests; use a queue to control send rate
4. Consider upgrading to a higher plan for more capacity
5. For polling, switch to WebSocket real-time push instead
